NEWS5 assist motorist tru 'Aksyon Semana Santa'!

NEWS5’s Public Service, through its emergency rescue unit, RESCUE5, affirms its commitment to serve the public this Holy Week via Aksyon Semana Santa.

Aksyon Semana Santa is the motorist assistance project of News5 Public Service, in partnership with Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., which aims to provide emergency medical aid to motorists traveling to the north.

To ensure that motorists get to their destination safely, NEWS5 Public Service will deploy its RESCUE5 teams, along with first aiders of Philippine Red Cross, to different posts along the stretch of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX and Subic-Clark-Tarlac-Expressway (SCTEX). RESCUE5 includes paramedic-reporters and news personnel who had undergone training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The RESCUE5 teams will be stationed in several posts along NLEX and SCTEX today and on Black Saturday and Easter Sunday. Aksyon Semana Santa will continue to provide assistance to motorists on their way back to Metro Manila on the first few hours of April 25.

Happy Yipee Yehey! hosts all set for the Holy Week!

ABS-CBN’s Happy Yipee Yehey! hosts shared their plans for the Holy Week.

In an exclusive interview, Randy Santiago admitted that though he has the chance to enjoy the Holy Week in Boracay, he’d rather be in a place where he and his family could better relax.

“We will go either to Tagaytay or mag-stay na lang sa bahay, o sa clubhouse. Usually, after the Holy Week pa kami kasi lumalabas,” said Randy.

John Estrada, on the other hand, gave an inspiring advice to everyone. For John, as long as he is with his wife and children, he will have a satisfying Holy Week vacation.

“Well siyempre sa lahat ng nangyayari sa paligid natin, maganda talagang gawin natin ay mag-reflect. Magdasal ng magdasal, lalo na mahirap ang buhay ngayon at maraming nangyayaring sakuna sa buong mundo,” said John.

John Prats is also excited for his long vacation. He shared that it is a great opportunity to bond with his family.

“Kasi yung parents ko rin parehong may trabaho. So eto talaga, time na for them,” said John.

Visita Iglesia Online is again viewable!

Visita Iglesia Online - a Lenten website re-launched on April 1, 2011 by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) which caters to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and physically impaired individuals to enable them to join the celebration of Holy Week and Easter, already reaches at least 40,959 visits as of 8:20 a.m. today according to the CBCP.

It was a 20,000-visitor increase in two days, as the site had attracted some 21,219 visitors as of 9:37 a.m. Monday. But the online hits are expected to peak even more on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday.

Last year's Visita Iglesia site had attracted 47,473 visitors.

While the old CBCP address www.cbcponline.net/visitaiglesia is still active, it will redirect visitors to the updated Visita Iglesia site.

In a news article, the CBCP said Visita Iglesia Online offers a virtual experience of celebrating Lent, the Holy Week and Easter at the comfort of one’s room - in front of a multimedia laptop or desktop which somehow becomes a virtual chapel.

CBCP media director Msgr. Pedro Quitorio, however, said the site should not be used as a substitute to the liturgical celebrations done in parishes. Those who have the capability to celebrate liturgical services in their parish churches should do so, the prelate reportedly said.

Visita Iglesia Online features various resources (videos, photos, articles) for spiritual growth and deepening one’s faith. It also has catechesis and reflections for Lent, Holy Week and Easter preached by bishops and priests.

The traditional Visita Iglesia in a multimedia platform presents 14 shrines and pilgrimage churches to correspond with the 14 Stations of the Cross with reflections given by priests. The traditional Seven Last Words and the Pasyon, likewise, are being featured their.
