Guji Lorenzana is ready to take on sexy roles!

Before becoming one of the Bud Brothers in the initial offering of the Precious Hearts Romances series, Guji Lorenzana had started out in showbiz as a singer. He has released two independent albums, but is still waiting for his big break in music. Now that he will top-bill the next PHR chapter entitled Somewhere in my Heart starring opposite Kaye Abad, Guji hopes that a major recording label will sign him. “I haven’t had the time to approach any record label. Hopefully if they hear about me because of Precious Hearts and they find out I’m a singer they will be interested. I write a lot of songs. Actually, you can hear a lot of my songs on the radio, you just don’t know that I wrote it. I would always come back to music because that’s my first love. Kahit sobrang busy ako I’ll never stop doing music.”

For Guji, doing a teleserye such as Bud Brothers and Somewhere in my Heart allows him to explore other opportunities in showbiz. In Bud Brothers he did some kissing scenes and love scenes with Kaye, and with Somewhere in my Heart, viewers can expect more daring scenes between the two. Guji has no qualms about showing some skin and being intimate with an actress in front of the camera. “Ngayon na I’m doing love scenes certainly there will be offers for me to do sexy pictorials or more daring roles. I’m open to it. I’m still young and I might as well do those things now. There are stories that require those things—passion and showing a bit of skin.”

The 27-year-old US-born talent added he is also open to doing a sexy pictorial for a magazine or for an endorsement. Although he said that if such an offer comes his way, he will make sure he has the body to flaunt. “When I came here I did a lot of commercials. I never thought I’d be doing that because before I used to weigh 200 lbs. Right now I’m really working hard to be in shape. I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t give it a try. I don’t have the perfect body yet but if a project requires me I will really work on it.”

However, Guji clarified that he will only go sexy for as long as the project will be tastefully done. Even though he grew up in a liberated culture, this moreno hunk has no plans of taking his clothes off just for the heck of it. “I think I’m okay with going topless but it has to be tasteful. In this industry kasi madali mag-take advantage sa ‘yo lalo na if you’re new. That’s the warning of my friends to me. Definitely if the offer comes I will think about it.”

This Star Circle 16 artist is taking his craft seriously. He shared that he is ready to reveal his butt in a love scene if he believes that the story requires it. “With butt exposure in love scenes, I don’t think about it but I know it is sometimes required. With the right script, right director, right role, I will think about it. For as long as it is needed in the role. If it is not needed, I wouldn’t do it. Let’s just see.

Kaye Abad is happy ot be back on TV!

Kaye Abad top bills the upcoming chapter of Precious Hearts Romances entitled Somewhere in my Heart with her Bud Brothers leading man Guji Lorenzana. ABS-CBN.com interviewed Kaye during the pictorial for Somewhere in my Heart where she expressed her gratitude to her home network for entrusting her with this project. “I’m happy kasi after ng isang episode sa Bud Brothers nasundan nitong Somewhere in my Heart. Matagal din akong hindi na-regular sa TV, puro isang episode lang. Medyo nagulat ‘yung katawan ko sa puyatan pero masaya pa rin na may trabaho. Sa ngayon mahirap na rin ang career kasi madami nang artista diyan.” After her last teleserye Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas in 2004, Kaye would only do short appearances in TV dramas until this instalment of Precious Hearts Romances.

Kaye and Guji first paired up in one chapter of Bud Brothers, the initial offering of the PHR series. After that management thought of casting the two in their own teleserye. Kaye said aside from feeling honored to be given this project, there is also the pressure of making Somewhere in my Heart as successful as Bud Brothers. “Nakakakaba rin kasi kami na lang ito, wala na ‘yung ibang ka-Bud Brothers namin. Kapag pumalpak walang ibang sisisihin kung hindi kami ni Guji, ha ha ha! Nakakaloka! Pero nandun pa rin ‘yung pagsusumikap na gawing maganda itong show na ito. ‘Yung kaba nakakatulong para ibigay mo lagi ‘yung best mo.”

For Somewhere in my Heart, Kaye will take on the role of conservative nun named Femy who has sort of a romantic past. “Sa college may gusto ako kay Aaron, ‘yun nga si Guji. Siya ‘yung heartthrob ng campus kaya hindi niya ako pinapansin. Ten years after ng college nagkaroon ng reunion. Nakita niya ako na isa nang madre. ‘Yun ang magiging conflict ng story. Bagong kwento ito kasi ‘yung character mo hindi pwedeng magkarelasyon.”

The 27-year-old actress also told ABS-CBN.com that she is very excited to be doing another romance series with Guji. After doing Bud Brothers, she said she and the newbie actor have become close friends. “Excited ako na makakatrabaho ko uli si Guji. Nakakabitin kasi ‘yung Bud Brothers kasi one week lang ‘yung episode namin tapos hindi na ako nakabalik. At least ngayon mas matagal kaming magkakasama. Kumportable na kami sa isa’t isa. Mas malalim na ‘yung friendship namin.”

Kaye also thanked all those who supported her love team with Guji in Bud Brothers, which led to the two of them being cast in Somewhere in my Heart. “Thankful ako na nag-work ‘yung love team namin. Meron na ngang KayJi, ‘yun ‘yung mga fans ng love team namin, parang Kimerald, ha ha ha! After three episodes namin sa Bud Brothers meron nang KayJi na grupo kaya may anniversary sila. Na-meet na namin sila sa isang get together na inorganize nila. Ang saya nila kasama.”

Guji Lorenzana denies he is courting Kaye Abad!

After pairing up in Precious Hearts Romances presents Bud Brothers, Guji Lorenzana and Kaye Abad now have their own mini-series, the next PHR adaptation entitled Somewhere in my Heart. During the pictorial for this new romance teleserye, ABS-CBN.com spoke with Guji who shared how happy he is to be doing his first full-length TV drama with Kaye. “In Bud Brothers when I was first told that my partner will be Kaye Abad, I got scared. I googled her name and learned her past projects. I said, ‘Oh my God! She worked with John Lloyd Cruz!’ (Tabing Ilog) I’m new pa naman and I am originally a singer not an actor. Ngayon I’m more comfortable. I’m also very happy that management loved our tandem in Bud Brothers and they gave us our own series, this Somewhere in my Heart. I hope our love team clicks even more and we can do another project after this. I hope the fans will continue supporting us

While taping for Bud Brothers, rumors started going around about a romance blossoming between Guji and Kaye. Co-workers also attested to the sweetness the stars displayed to each other on the set. But Guji clarified with ABS-CBN.com that he and Kaye are just friends. “Well of course we’re a love team so there will be chismis. We’re comfortable with each other kaya siguro nagkaroon kami ng chemistry sa TV. But we’re just friends. We talk about relationships. I ask her for advice because she’s been in a long-term relationship. We’re good friends and I don’t want to ruin that friendship.”

Guji added that he hasn’t asked Kaye about the status of her relationship with Parokya ni Edgar (PnE) vocalist Chito Miranda. There have been reports that the actress and the PnE front man have already broken up, although no confirmation has come from either. On the other hand, Guji is very much single at the moment, but getting into a relationship is not among his priorities. “I go out on dates, but I’m single. I was heartbroken when I came here to the Philippines. The reason I left US was because I was heartbroken. Ngayon I just want to concentrate on my career. My mom told me ‘wag ko muna isipin ang love. I’m still young pa naman e, ha ha ha!”

Guji confessed that on the set of Bud Brothers, he realized that how any man would find it easy to be attracted to Kaye. “I never thought that I would get along with her easily. That’s why now I’m so happy we’re good friends. I can say that she’s the type of person I can like. She’s very nice. Also, I like small girls kasi. That’s why siguro bagay kami sa TV, ‘yung physical built namin we complement each other.”
