Jake Cuenca brings to life Elias Paniki, a character that has been a staple in Philippine entertainment, in the fourth story of the 'Agimat' series on ABS-CBN.
Elias Paniki was first portrayed by action star Ramon Revilla, Sr. in his younger days.
“I feel so blessed na once again, binigyan ako ng ABS-CBN ng isang role na tumatak na sa isip ng mga Pinoy dahil nga sa original nitong lead character na si Mr. Ramon Revilla Sr.,” said Jake, considered one of the most sought-after leading men of the network.
A commercial model turned actor, Jake has worked his way up the showbiz ladder to prove that he is worthy of being in the entertainment business. His portrayal of Dave in “Tayong Dalawa” has made its mark in the history of Philippine television. Meanwhile, his depiction of “Alejandro” in the controversial series “Rubi” has shown the depth of his acting skills.
As he gears up for his newest project on television, Jake will show viewers a different side of him. Playing the role of Elias Paniki, Jake will leave the audience in awe as he shows them his Muay Thai moves, a discipline and art also referred to as the “science of eight limbs.” He underwent extensive Muay Thai training to successfully breathe life into the character.
In an interview he stated, “I am very aware sa contributions ni Sir Ramon Revilla Sr. sa local movies, na up until now, pinahahalagahan pa rin ng marami. Just being a part of this makes me proud and happy.”
The tale of Elias Paniki starts when Elias, after being trained by a soldier named Victor, is given an amulet with extraordinary powers, the "bertud ng paniki." He uses the amulet to fight off the mangkukulam who is feared to have returned. Thus, his journey as Elias Paniki begins.
A powerful ensemble joins Jake in his adventures: Cherry Pie Picache, Jojit Lorenzo, Kelly Misa, Xian Lim, with Sam Pinto and Hermes Bautista from "PBB Double Up."
“Agimat: Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla presents Elias Paniki” is directed by Dondon Santos. The weekly Saturday show will premiere this May 29 on ABS-CBN.
