Andi Eigenmann is the newest ABS-CBN primetime star!

Many were surprised that showbiz newbie Andi Eigenmann would be taking on the lead role in the teleserye Agua Bendita. But according to ABS-CBN management, they were really looking for a fresh face to be the newest star on Primetime Bida. When asked about being given this privilege, the 19-year-old daughter of Jaclyn Jose and Mark Gil revealed that it was really a dream come true for her. “I was told that I was handpicked po and then I was immediately called for a meeting. Hindi ko po ine-expect na ngayon ko makukuha yung ganitong opportunity. Pero kung kinuha po nila ako ibig sabihin para sa kanila ready na ako. So kahit nakakagulat, naisip ko na din na I guess kaya ko po talaga,” she cheerfully began during her solo press con last February 1.



The show hasn’t even started yet but she’s already plagued with intrigues starting with the possibility that her fellow young stars will feel jealous of her now that she’s got a lead role. “Hindi ko naman alam kasi kahit papaano bago pa ako so wala pa akong masyadong nakikilala para maramdaman kung meron mang naiinggit.” Even though it’s inevitable that people might compare her with teleserye princesses like Kim Chiu and Erich Gonzales, Andi seemed determined to prove her worth as an actress. “Kahit na halos magkakasing-edad kami, pagdating sa style at talent dun makikita yung pagkakaiba namin. Siguro po may isa sa amin na lulutang pero I’m sure ’di yun magiging issue kasi may kanya-kanya naman kaming strengths and weaknesses,” she stressed.

Just like her contemporaries, Andi claimed that she has no problem showing a little skin especially for her underwater scenes since it’s really a requirement. “Siguro sexy in the sense na naka-bathing suit pero hindi malaswa. Yung makikita mo na bata pa ako at hindi pa ganon ka-daring sa mga eksena. At saka hindi ko na rin siguro kailangang umarte or magsabi kung hanggang saan yung limitations ko kasi inaalagaan naman ako ng management. Alam kong hindi naman nila ipapagawa sa akin yung isang bagay na hindi pa napapanahon or hindi nababagay para sa akin.”

When it comes to her leading men, the pretty mestiza was happy to be paired with critically-claimed actor Jason Abalos and the dashing Matteo Gudicelli. “Nung una nga kinabahan ako katrabaho si Jason kasi baka mamaya maisip niya na baka ‘di ako marunong umarte or wala siyang maramdaman [na emosyon] sa akin. Pero masasabi kong mas close ako sa kanya kasi matagal-tagal ko na siyang kilala. Si Matteo, work in progress pa.” But she was quick to say that both guys take good care of her on the set. “Nagpapasalamat ako na sila yung napiling makakatrabaho ko kasi they don’t make me feel awkward and hindi nila ako pinapabayaan,” she added.

But given a chance, Andi confessed that she would also like to work with Jake Cuenca and Jericho Rosales in the future. Apparently, she was impressed with their versatility as well as their good looks. But based on her girlish reaction, it was obvious who between the two her biggest celebrity crush is. “Kasi sobrang gwapo po ni Jake and kahit anong i-portray niyang role para sa akin napakahusay niya. Actually nagulat po ako nung first time ko siyang nakita, ‘Uy si Jake!’ Akala mo hindi ako artista kasi na-starstruck po ako. Natuwa naman ako nung nakilala ko siya kasi mabait and gentleman siya talaga,” she gushed.
