Ruffa Gutierrez' new text mate is Smartmatic’s Cesar Flores!

Former beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez’s list of “friends” seems to just get more colorful.

After having a “special friendship” with John Lloyd Cruz, she revealed she’s exchanging text messages with a new man: Smartmatic President Cesar Flores.



“Mahilig siyang mag-text. Siya ang bago kong textmate,” she told “TV Patrol” in an interview aired on July 13.

Rumors about the two being an item spawned after photos of them together were uploaded on Twitter, showing the “Paparazzi” host and the Venezuelan bachelor seated next to each other. They were taken during Ruffa’s birthday celebration, which was hosted by her friend Anton San Diego.

One of the photo captions even stated: “Spotted! Hottie @iloveruffag (Ruffa’s Twitter username) and her bday date?!? Cutie @cesarfz (Cesar’s account name)!!!”

Another one said: “At dinner, @cesarfz was half-grilled by @iloveruffag's mom Annabelle Rama! Too funny! :-)”

Ruffa also re-tweeted Cesar’s post on July 9 which said: “Enjoying fine company at Ruffa Gutierrez' birthday dinner!” To which she added, “Had a blast! Thank u for joining us! :)”

Some already found the pair to be a good match. However, Ruffa maintained that they are not dating, at least not yet.

“I just met him kaya ayoko munang magsalita too much about it,” she said.

She did admit though that she admires the guy because “He is a nice... very charming, [and] very endearing. Tingnan natin kung anong mangyayari. Ang importante single."

In an article on Bombo Radyo Philippines dated July 13, Cesar is said to have been surprised when queried about Ruffa. He was clueless of where the rumors came from.

A few months ago, Cesar was one of the most popular yet controversial faces during the 2010 polls. His company, Smartmatic, provided the machines used during the country’s first automated election. He, along with the bigwigs of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), was also beset with issues of poll fraud.

But with that aside, Cesar is said to have been mulling over forming his own band called “Cesar and the Spoiled Ballots.” He announced this during Smartmatic’s media thanksgiving party where he sang pop and rock songs and even danced the Brazilian samba.

He is currently out of the country but Ruffa said he’d be back in three weeks. “Alam ko talaga schedule niya,” she added in jest in an article published on abs-cbnNEWS.com.

It looks like she has already learned her lesson from her previous relationship with John Lloyd. Recall that during her birthday special on “Paparazzi,” Ruffa intimated that the actor’s budding romance with current girlfriend Shaina Magdayao “overlapped” with theirs.

“I only go for people who are single na walang sabit,” she stressed.

But as she had earlier said, she will not talk about Lloydy anymore “kasi it just ruins the whole thing na pinagsamahan namin so mabuti na ‘yung mataas pa rin ‘yung respeto namin sa isa’t-isa.”
