Mark Alain launches solo album!

You’ve probably heard his song on the radio. Meet Mark Alain, the crooner who brings his self-titled album to the airwaves via the carrier single Maghihintay.

Mark had actually recorded the song independently when Sony Music decided to take him under its wing and sign him up for a solo record — an experience which Mark describes as akin to “winning the lottery jackpot.”

Looking up to the likes of Michael Jackson and James Ingram as his musical idols, Mark hopes to leave his own footprint in the music industry and make the most of his “lottery jackpot” by creating ballads worth remembering.

Mark’s style uses hints of pop to spice up romantic tracks, such as Sa Piling Ko, Loving You, Isang Araw and Ika’y Mapapasaakin.

The former vocalist of the band Frio, Mark continues to collaborate with his old bandmates Raz Itum and Tristan Climaco, who wrote some of the songs in the album.

Mark Alain, the album, is now out in CDs under Sony Music.

Child Abuse case filed against TV5 and Willie Revillame!

The "Macho Dancing" boy Jan-Jan Suan's incident on Willing Willie episodelast March 12 has escalated as hild advocates filed a child abuse case.

Six individuals and officials of End Child Prostitution, Dhild Pornography and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes (ECPAT) filed a case of Chils Abuse before the Quezon City Fiscal's Office against Willie Revillame, TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan yesterday, April 25.


“We cannot allow our laws protective of children’s right to be trampled upon. So we have to act. This group has been protectively fighting for children’s right,” said Jean Enriquez, Exec. director, Coalition Against Trafficking In Women – Asia Pacific (CATW-AP) on “TV Patrol,” April 25.


In a report by ABS-CBNnews.com, the complaint sheet said that “the depiction of the child in such a sexualized fashion is tantamount to abuse and exploitation.”

It added that “the degrading exhibition is compounded by the cruelty of the show's main host, mocking his [boy’s] appearance amidst the laughter of the jeering crowd.”

The complainants cited several cases of violations like Republic Act (RA) 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act; RA 9775 or the Act Defining the Crime of Child Pornography; and RA 9231 or An Act Eliminating the Worst Forms of Child Labor.


Amihan Abueva, EPCAT President said, “No we are not funded. ECPAT is not an organization funded by any media network at all. We are not interested in any network rivalries or politics. We just want to make sure that children are defended.”

Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt cast in 'The Dark Knight Rises' roles revealed!

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have joined the cast of “The Dark Knight Rises,” the epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend.

Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.

Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.

The film reunites the actors with Christopher Nolan, who recently directed them in the award-winning blockbuster “Inception.”

The director stated, “When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.”

Heading the cast of “The Dark Knight Rises,” Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The main cast also includes Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as Bane.

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Christopher Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release beginning July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Angel Aquino strips down for Kinse!

Angel Aquino takes on her most daring role to date as she strips down in protest of human rights violations for the film project Kinse of ANC.

Kinse is a collection of four to six-minute short films on human rights directed by 15 Filipino filmmakers led by Erik Matti, Carlitos Siguion-Reyna and Paolo Villaluna.

In the latest teaser for the project, Angel portrays a seemingly strong and glamorous woman, who after taking her clothes off piece by piece, reveals a battered woman with bruises all over her body.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Angel revealed that she feels deeply for victims of human rights violations as her mother was also a battered wife.

“My tatay would make all the decisions at pag hindi siya nasusunod o pag may mga bagay na hindi siya natutuwa, madali niya masaktan yung nanay ko. Akala namin ang tatay ganun talaga role niya,” she shared.

Aside from lending her talent to promote Kinse, Angel will also anchor the six-part TV special on the project to be aired in May.

With two daughters of her own, Angel hopes she can help raise awareness on the issue through the human rights series. “Gusto kong malaman nila na hindi nila dapat payagan na mangyari ito sa kanila,” she said.

Kinse is ANC’s follow-up project to the successful and controversial film series amBisyon2010, which tackled the 10 issues Filipinos should consider in choosing the next leaders of the nation.

Two of the 20 short films in that project, one directed by Cannes Best Director Dante Mendoza and one by award-winning filmmaker Jeffrey Jeturian, got an X-rating from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board last year.

As ANC celebrates its 15th year of telling the nation’s stories, it aims to again stir discussion and action through Kinse, which is produced in partnership with the Commission on Human Rights, and through the support of the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Patricia Evangelista, executive producer of 2011 New York Festival Silver and Bronze World Medalist documentary program Storyline, is at the helm of the project with her Storyline and amBisyon2010 co-creator Villaluna.

NEWS5 assist motorist tru 'Aksyon Semana Santa'!

NEWS5’s Public Service, through its emergency rescue unit, RESCUE5, affirms its commitment to serve the public this Holy Week via Aksyon Semana Santa.

Aksyon Semana Santa is the motorist assistance project of News5 Public Service, in partnership with Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., which aims to provide emergency medical aid to motorists traveling to the north.

To ensure that motorists get to their destination safely, NEWS5 Public Service will deploy its RESCUE5 teams, along with first aiders of Philippine Red Cross, to different posts along the stretch of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX and Subic-Clark-Tarlac-Expressway (SCTEX). RESCUE5 includes paramedic-reporters and news personnel who had undergone training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The RESCUE5 teams will be stationed in several posts along NLEX and SCTEX today and on Black Saturday and Easter Sunday. Aksyon Semana Santa will continue to provide assistance to motorists on their way back to Metro Manila on the first few hours of April 25.

Mula Sa Puso stars hold 1st fans day!

A jam-packed crowd filled SM Fairview last Thursday as Mula sa Puso stars JM de Guzman, Lauren Young and Enrique Gil spent an afternoon with their fans.

Fans screamed with the mere sight of the three stars who rendered song numbers and played games with lucky audience members.

Girls couldn’t help but aggressively hug, kiss, and pinch JM and Enrique whenever they got near them.

The three were also happy to see their respective fan groups, which proved how they have become even more famous with Mula sa Puso. JM’s fans called the Hukbong JM, Lauren’s Laurenaticz, and Enrique’s Quenatics came in full force just to show how much they support their idols.

Meanwhile, JM was very overwhelmed when fans of the late actor Rico Yan approached him and told him how much they are supporting him and the show. JM told his co-star and Rico’s older brother Bobby Yan about this and recognized the group JM was referring to as the one that supported Rico.

In an exclusive interview, Randy Santiago admitted that though he has the chance to enjoy the Holy Week in Boracay, he’d rather be in a place where he and his family could better relax.

“We will go either to Tagaytay or mag-stay na lang sa bahay, o sa clubhouse. Usually, after the Holy Week pa kami kasi lumalabas,” said Randy.

John Estrada, on the other hand, gave an inspiring advice to everyone. For John, as long as he is with his wife and children, he will have a satisfying Holy Week vacation.

Timothy Tan and Sunshine Dizon welcomes an addition to their family a baby girl!

Actress Sunshine Dizon has delivered a healthy baby girl via caesarean section on Monday night, April 18, 2011.

This is Sunshine's first and second for Timothy who has a child from his previous relationship.

The two got married on March 25, 2010.

Ruffa Gutierrez 'Belo Ad' replaces for being racy!

The BodyTite billboard of Ruffa Gutierrez at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (NAIA) Terminal 2 was ordered removed by the authorities they found the ad to be “too sexy.”

And eventually it was replaced with another ad which she wore a gown instead of a swimsuit.

She tweeted about the matter on April 20, posting:

“My BELO billboard for BODYTITE was banned at the Ninoy Aquino Intl Airport. Officials say its too sexy daw. Is it reallyyyyyy?! Noooooo...”

Visita Iglesia Online is again viewable!

Visita Iglesia Online - a Lenten website re-launched on April 1, 2011 by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) which caters to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and physically impaired individuals to enable them to join the celebration of Holy Week and Easter, already reaches at least 40,959 visits as of 8:20 a.m. today according to the CBCP.

It was a 20,000-visitor increase in two days, as the site had attracted some 21,219 visitors as of 9:37 a.m. Monday. But the online hits are expected to peak even more on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday.

Last year's Visita Iglesia site had attracted 47,473 visitors.

While the old CBCP address www.cbcponline.net/visitaiglesia is still active, it will redirect visitors to the updated Visita Iglesia site.

In a news article, the CBCP said Visita Iglesia Online offers a virtual experience of celebrating Lent, the Holy Week and Easter at the comfort of one’s room - in front of a multimedia laptop or desktop which somehow becomes a virtual chapel.

CBCP media director Msgr. Pedro Quitorio, however, said the site should not be used as a substitute to the liturgical celebrations done in parishes. Those who have the capability to celebrate liturgical services in their parish churches should do so, the prelate reportedly said.

Visita Iglesia Online features various resources (videos, photos, articles) for spiritual growth and deepening one’s faith. It also has catechesis and reflections for Lent, Holy Week and Easter preached by bishops and priests.

The traditional Visita Iglesia in a multimedia platform presents 14 shrines and pilgrimage churches to correspond with the 14 Stations of the Cross with reflections given by priests. The traditional Seven Last Words and the Pasyon, likewise, are being featured their.
