American band Train will rock Manila on December 7!

American rock band Train is set to perform at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on December 7, 2011. They are the band behind the hits "Meet Virginia," "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)", "Hey, Soul Sister," "If It's Love" and "Marry Me."

Train was formed in San Francisco, California in 1994 and the current members are Patrick Monahan (vocals), Jimmy Stafford (guitar) and Scott Underwood (drums). Touring with the band since 2009 are Jerry Becker (keyboards, guitar) and Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals, percussion).

The band first shot to fame in 1998 with the release of their first album which had the hit single "Meet Virginia." The album was certified platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). Since then the band has had numerous hit singles on Billboard charts and their other albums were also certified platinum. The "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)" from their second album was on the Hot 100 chart for a year and won two Grammy awards in 2002 for Best Rock Song and Best Arrangement.

Train scored another Top 20 hit with "Calling All Angels" from their third album and it was even used in the hit TV series One Tree Hill. The band's other songs were also used in movie trailers and even advertising campaigns. "When I Look to the Sky" was used in the trailer for the 2004 movie Jersey Girl; "Ordinary" was first featured in Spider-Man 2 then in the 2007 TV series Heroes.

The band took a three-year hiatus after the release of their fourth studio album, For Me, It's You. They returned with their highly-successful fifth studio album Save Me, San Francisco in October 2009. Upon its release, the lead single "Hey, Soul Sister" reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the most downloaded song on iTunes in 2010, the best-selling single in Columbia Records history and certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA.

This 2011, Train was awarded Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 53rd Grammy Awards and Top Rock Song at the Billboard Music Awards 2011. The album's follow-up singles "If It's Love" and "Marry Me" have also been certified gold and have been getting consistent radio airplay not just in the USA, but also in the Philippines. "Marry Me" was again used in the TV series One Tree Hill.

Train has toured extensively since 2009. Early this year, they were invited to perform at the Dubai Jazz Festival, and the Pop Festival in Bogot. Just a month ago, they concluded a co-headlining, full-scale summer tour with Maroon 5 which took them to over 40 venues across the USA.

The band is reportedly working on their sixth studio album, tentatively scheduled for release in early 2012. While Train is keeping busy in the studio, fans can listen to their brand-new songs "To Be Loved," which is featured on the soundtrack album of the movie, Abduction starring Taylor Lautner and "Brand New Book," the theme song of The Biggest Loser in the USA.

'Maria La del Barrio' extended until Feb. 2012!

After airing for almost three months, the local adaptation of Maria la del Barrio will continue to be seen on Philippine television until February 2012.

Starring Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee, this ABS-CBN show is directed by Rory Quintos and Richard Somes.

Erich, who reprises the role of Mexican superstar Thalia, says that she will show her feisty side as Book 2 of Maria la del Barrio starts airing on the Kapamilya Network.

"Ang role ko po bilang Maria, kilala po siya bilang palaban. Sa Book 2, mas ibang klaseng tapang ang ipapakita. Kung dati, sobrang pure siya, sa Book 2, mate-test ang values niya," revealed Erich during the press con held earlier at the White House restaurant in Quezon City.

Viewers can also look forward to a new female character that will be introduced in the primetime show.

The two lead stars were then asked to describe how can they relate to their characters in this remake of a popular Mexicanovela.

Enchong explained, "There's a notion na: ano ba ang pipiliin mo? Ang tama para sa karamihan o tama para sa sarili mo? Mahirap yun for everyone, ano ba ang pipiliin mo: ang magiging masaya ka para sa karamihan o magiging masaya ka para sa sarili mo?

DREAM ROLES. When asked about their dream roles, Erich said that she doesn't have any particular role in mind but she will do it as long as it's challenging.

When asked if she is open to portraying a lesbian character, Erich pointed out that she has already portrayed one in the TV show, Kung Fu Kids.

As for Enchong, he admitted that he dreams of being cast in a sexy role.

"Gusto kong magawa habang bata...for example, ang pagiging sexy kasi hanggang kailan mo lang ba magagawa,di ba? Pag nagka tiyan na ako, baka pandirihan na ako ng tao.

"Habang bata, habang wala pang tiya, gusto ko nang gawin ang mga sexy roles."

Is he willing to accept gay roles?

"One of the things...isang konsepto na gay stories tulad ng ginawa ni Kuya John Lloyd [Cruz for In My Life]. Ang dami nilang tinanggap na awards at pangarap ko na magkaroon ng awards.

"Basta maganda ang kwento at konsepto, why not?"

Is he also willing to accept a role in action-themed projects?

"Gusto ko yung may powers parang X-Men. [Ang gusto kong power] tulad ng kay Professor X, yung mind over matter."

Erich and Enchong have been paired together for a string of TV shows such as Magkaribal They have also topbilled movies such as Paano Ko Sasabihin? and I Do.

Are they willing to separate from their love team?

"I'm speaking for myself...hindi ganun kadali ang kumalas sa loveteam na nabuo namin dahil ayaw kong maging ingrata sa mga loveteam fans namin dahil sila ang dahilan kung bakit kami nandito.

"They're very supportive sa mga individual projects namin at gusto ko suklian ang mga kabutihan nila and to make them happy."

Enchong admits that he is willing to forge on his own.

"Siguro ang term na umalis...The perfect word would be break. Siyempre, as an individual actor, you want to see yourself grow. Ang loveteam namin will always be there."

Maria la del Barrio airs weekdays before Reputasyon.

"Angelito: Batang Ama” is JM de Guzman's biggest break!

Dramatic young actor JM De Guzman formally joins the roster of sought after Kapamilya leading men as he topbills ABS-CBN’s newest afternoon drama “Angelito: Batang Ama” premiering this Monday (Nov 14) in Kapamilya Gold.

JM takes on his biggest role to date as young dad Angelito who will face the responsibilities and challenges of parenthood at an early age.

“What’s new and interesting about this show is that the perspective of the young father will be shown to the audience. Usually, the struggles of a young mother are being featured on programs or films so now it’s time for the viewers to open their minds and see the other side of this social issue,” said JM.

Joining JM in the cast of “Angelito: Batang Ama” are Charee Pineda, Kaye Abad, Tom Rodriguez, Ina Feleo, Matt Evans, Felix Roco, Sam Concepcion, Devon Seron, Jason Francisco, Carl John Barrameda, Kyra Custodio, Bianca Casado, Sue Anna Ramirez, Eliza Pineda, Mariel Pamintuan, Lemuel Pelayo, Benj de Guzman, Eslove Briones, Maichel Flores, Joshen Bernardo, and Bea Basa. Veteran actors Ms. Elizabeth Oropesa, Al Tantay, and Ms. Snooky Serna also return to television via this soap.

First seen as Mike in “PHR presents Midnight Phantom,” JM was instantly given follow up projects such as “PHR presents Alyna” and “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine” with his undeniable and simply noticeable acting prowess.

His name further created a mark when he was among the cast members of the hit romantic-comedy”My Amnesia Girl” starring John Lloyd Cruz and Toni Gonzaga. The name JM De Guzman was catapulted to big screen stardom when Cinemalaya movie ”Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank,” where he portrayed lead, raked earnings at the box office and is now vying for a spot to be an official Oscar nominee.

Some may think JM’s rise to fame is quite fast compared to others but for the dramatic actor, it’s just about time that he gets this big break.

”I’ve been preparing myself to take on big projects like ’Angelito: Batang Ama.’ I stopped showbiz when I was young to study Theater Arts in the University of the Philippines where I learned more about the craft that I love. That is why I can say I am ready and I am equipped to face lead roles,” explained JM who used to be one of the ”Ang TV” kids.

Aside from acting on television, JM is also known as a theater actor and just recently, he was formally launched as a recording artist after releasing his self-titled album.

Don’t miss the premiere of “Angelito Batang Ama” this Monday (Nov 14), 3:30 PM after “Helena’s Promise” on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold.

Watch the video below:

Maraming araw sa ating buhay
Ang hinahanap may kalayuan
Di matanaw, di nauubusan ng tiwala sa sarili
Lakas ng dasal.

Alam mong sa dulo ng bawat taon
Naghihintay ang masayang panahon
(Pinapawi) Lahat ng lumbay
(Pangungulila) Ng paghihintay.

Ang damdamin ay tumatawid
Sa lupa, sa dagat, o sa langit
Mainit na palad sa gabing malamig
Pinaglalapit ng pag-ibig.

Ito ang Pasko (ng Pilipino)
Pagmamahal ang pinagsasaluhan
Ito ang Pasko (ng Pilipino)
Inaangat ang isa't isa
Ito ang Pasko (ng Pilipino)
Panginoon ang laging kasama
Ito ang Pasko (ng Pilipino)
Saan man sa mundo
Da Best ang Pasko ng Pilipino.

Anumang pinagdaanang may kabigatan
Wala naman tayong di nakayanan
Nasaan ka man walang maiiwanan
Ang bawat isa, ang ating tahanan.

Lumalaki ang bawat puso
Lumalalim ang pagsasama
Sa pinakamahaba,
pinakamasayang Pasko sa mundo.

Da Best ang Pasko ng Pilipino...

Robin Padilla and Vina Morales Reunite in ‘MMK’ this Saturday!

Nearly 20 years since their last project together, Robin and Vina rekindle on-screen romance in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” this Saturday.

After two decades since their last movie together, Robin Padilla and Vina Morales are reunited this Saturday (November 12) in a special ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ (MMK) episode as part of the drama anthology’s 20th anniversary celebration. The said MMK episode is Robin and Vina’s first team-up on the small screen, making it more memorable for the two Kapamilya stars.

This week’s episode will feature the life story of an inmate of the New Bilibid Prison named Willie, played by Robin, who spent most of his life outside prison running away from the authorities; and what he and his wife, played by Vina, had to went through while he was running away from the authorities.

In an interview, both Robin and Vina admitted excitement over their MMK project. Robin shared, “MMK is known for featuring real heartwarming stories of real people, that’s why it’s an honor for me to do an episode that carries a quality story with an amazing cast and high-caliber director.”

Vina, on the other hand, shared, “It’s been a while since we’ve done a project together and fans have been waiting for something like this to happen. I’m happy that even after a long time and now that we’re living our separate lives, we still have that on-screen chemistry that our fans loved.”

Unlike their films which are mostly action-packed, Robin and Vina’s MMK episode is a family drama.

Meanwhile, despite admitting that he personally requested for Vina to be his partner, Robin stressed that they worked on the episode as professional actors. “I wanted to work with Vina because I believe that the character fits her. Unlike before that I have to be really in-love with her to show that I love her on-screen, now the intensity of acting is different. I rely on my own emotions in the dramatic scenes.”

Don’t miss the exciting reunion of Robin and Vina via “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” Saturday night after “Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition.”

Steve Jobs Interview: 'Steve Jobs The Lost Inteview' Opens in Cinemas Soon!

An hour-long interview with author Bob Cringely interviewing Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in 1995 is at the heart of the new film Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview, which will be playing starting November 19th. A trailer for the film has appeared on YouTube, showing excerpts of the 1995 interview, when Jobs was still with NeXT Computer but shortly before he would sell the company to Apple and eventually return as CEO.

The 90-second trailer features some commentary from Cringely to put the interview in context. The full interview had been thought lost for decades until a VHS copy was recently uncovered in the director's garage. After undergoing some digital cleanup, the discussion -- which was original filmed for use in Cringely's PBS series "The Triumph of the Nerds" has been expanded with supplementary footage and will be screened for limited release. Only a small portion of the interview was ever actually used in the TV series.

The trailer reveals that Jobs will recount some of his own life story, including a celebrated incident also shared in the new biography by Walter Isaacson where Jobs and co-founder Steve Wozniak, having made their own "blue box" to make unauthorized long-distance calls, impersonate Henry Kissinger and call the Vatican to speak to the Pope. In the interview, Jobs characterizes himself and Woz as "two guys who didn't know much" and reveals his dream of pushing "the way we could ratchet up our species" - "take the best and spread it around to everybody, so that everybody grows up with better things."

Jobs also talks candidly about his forced departure from Apple and what he is doing at NeXT, along with his prescient vision of a digital future. In 1995, Jobs was near the end of his "time in the wilderness" after being forced out of Apple. Though NeXT had yet to become a financial success, the roots of its loyal followers and Jobs' success with pushing computer boundaries had begun to catch on, and the CEO again felt that he was at the top of his game and doing great things.

The interview offers a number of memorable quotes, including one that has seen much reprinting lately, where Jobs declares that the "only problem with Microsoft is that they just have no taste," and that when he was working on the Macintosh project he thought "we were on a mission from God to save Apple."

The documentary will be opening in 19 cities, exclusively at Landmark Theaters.
