Derek, malaki ang utang na loob kay Judy Ann!

Aminado si Derek Ramsay na napakalaki ng nai-tulong ni Judy Ann Santos sa kanyang career. Una silang nagkasama noon sa teleseryeng Ysabella at sabihin pa, nag-click ang kanilang tandem to the point na nagkaroon pa ng intrigang nasapawan pa ng aktor si Ryan Agoncillo, ang noo’y boyfriend pa lang ni Juday at leading man din sa nasabing serye.

Since then ay naging isa na sa pinaka-hot leading men si Derek doing one project after another at ngayo’y may titulo nang Universal Leading Man.



For the second time ay magkasama na naman sina Juday at Derek sa Habang May Buhay na magsisimula nang iere sa Feb. 1 at siyempre, masayang-masaya ang aktor.

“I started off with Juday, and I have Ms. Juday to thank, she has really helped tremendously sa career ko. And now, I have been given the opportunity to work with her again. I think, this is the highest point of my career so far together with the movie that we just had, I Love You Goodbye. I’d say that’s the highest point of my career,” sabi ni Derek.

Natanong nga ang aktor na baka pagselosan na naman ni Angelica si Juday at say niya, there was never a time na nagselos ang girlfriend sa Young Superstar at Reyna ng Teleserye.

“She has so much respect, I think, Judy Ann is one of her idols too and I know for a fact that baby dati ni Judy Ann si Angel, ’di ba? ’Yun ang mga kuwento sa akin ni Angelica.

“And we started, kami ni Juday, with Ryan (Agoncillo) there, I saw the whole development from girlfriend-boyfriend, ‘yung pagsi-sweet nila sa set to their marriage. And Judy Ann Santos is a very respectable woman who’s not like that, she’s not the type who flirts around with any guy, she’s a committed wife and how can Angel be selos of something like that?” say pa niya.

Natanong din siya kung hindi ba siya nagseselos naman kay Jake Cuenca na leading man ni Angelica sa teleseryeng Ruby na malapit na ring iere.

Matatandaang nanligaw dati si Jake kay Angelica at hanggang ngayon, very vocal naman ang aktor na masaya siya na nakatrabaho ang kanyang dating niligawan.

“Ako, selos kay Jake? No, that’s not true. Actually, nu’ng nakilala ko si Angel, nililigawan pa yata siya ni Jake. So, there’s no jealousy. I know Jake, they’re shooting Ruby together. Walang problema.

“Jake’s very professional actor, so with Angel, and so with Diether (Ocampo, leading man din sa Ruby). Bed scene nga nila ni Gabby (Concepcion sa I Love You Goodbye), gusto kong manood. It’s never been an issue, I’ve always said that. I met Angel, may bed scene sila ni Aga sa A Love Story and I was there to support her. Hindi naman malaswang tingnan ang mga ginagawa ni Angel, eh. She’s doing good projects, she’s portraying them well and at the same time, it’s very respectable.”

Kapansin-pansin na sobrang tatas nang mag-Tagalog ni Derek saman-talang noong nagsisimula pa lang siya sa showbiz four or five years ago ay slang na slang pa siya.

Aniya, malaking factor daw si Angelica sa pagkakatuto niya ng Tagalog at aminado siyang isa ito sa napakalaking adjustment na nangyari sa relasyon nila.

“Before, I used to think in English. And si Angel is a very proud Filipina, marunong siyang mag-English pero nagta-Tagalog siya. That’s one of the things that I like about her. So I had to adjust na my thinking is also be in Tagalog.

“Now I’ve realized na even I talk to my dad, sometimes, I can explain myself better in Filipino than in English. So, nu’ng Christmas Holidays, pina-practice ko ulit mag-English, hindi mag-Tagalog.

“So ’yun. That’s one thing I had to get over with – that language barrier. Coz we both come from different cultures. But we’ve come to a common ground where we can understand each other.”

Sa mga hindi nakakaalam, Derek is a Fil-British at lumaki siya’t nag-aral sa London.
