Kim Chiu steps out of her comfort zone in her next film, I Love You, Goodbye where she will portray a role unlike the ones she has played before. “’Yung role ko do’n sobrang na-challenge ako, sobrang kakaiba,” she revealed. “Sinasabi ko sa director namin na si Direk Laurice (Guillen), ‘Direk, tulungan n’yo ako. Sabihin n’yo sa akin kung tama.’ Kasi medyo may pagka-bad, brat at may dark side [‘yung character]. Tinutulangan naman ako. Sana lang maganda ‘yung kalalabasan.”
She also admitted being worried that her fans might not appreciate her new character. “Ang layo-layo as Audrey [sa Tayong Dalawa]. Ang layo-layo as Kim kasi isa siyang brat na nang-aaway. Sabi ko baka magalit ‘yung mga tao. So parang natatakot ako na gawin ko ‘yung role.” But she added that her role has depth and there’s a reason for her character’s hostility.
The movie is Star Cinema’s official entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival and is top-billed by Gabby Concepcion, Angelica Panganiban, and Derek Ramsay who will play Kim’s love interest. She also shared that that there was pressure from having to act with some of today’s most versatile actors. “First time ko silang makakasama. Siyempre kinabahan ako.”
The film marks Kim’s first major acting project without Gerald Anderson as her onscreen partner so Kim was initially uncomfortable with Derek. She eventually got over the uneasiness when she got to know the actor more.
